The Welsh Liberal Democrats Assembly Member for South Wales West, Peter Black has welcomed the Coalition Government's announcement today that Swansea University will receive £2.5 million to create 40 new research posts.
The funding means that Swansea can establish a centre called COATED2. This centre will train researchers on how to develop functional coatings for products, such as steel and glass.
Peter Black said:
"This is tremendous news for both Wales and Swansea. It is particular pleasing that the university has been recognised as a leader of research in this field. With this extra money, that reputation will now only grow further.
"Investment in training and research makes Wales a more attractive place for businesses to invest in. Companies such as Tata Steel are already working with the university and this extra investment will no doubt enhance that relationship.
"This is yet more evidence that the Coalition Government is serious about investment and getting our economy moving again."
