Assembly Member calls for action over foul smell at Swansea sewage plant

The Welsh Liberal Democrats Assembly Member for South Wales West, Peter Black has contacted Welsh Water to ask them to take urgent action over a foul smell emanating from their sewage treatment plant on Fabian Way in Swansea.Mr. Black has received complaints from residents in Crymlyn Burrows about the smell, with many saying that they cannot open their windows or sit outside their homes in the hot weather. He has also been asked by Coedffranc Community Council to take the matter up with the authorities after representations by their members to Natural Resources Wales led to no improvement. "This smell is an unusual by-product of this plant so I am surprised that action has not been taken by Welsh Water to deal with it earlier," said Mr. Black. "It really is intolerable that residents are being asked to put up with this. Motorists too, are having to close their windows whilst driving down Fabian Way. "I have written to Welsh Water asking them to sort out the problem. I have also asked Natural Resources Wales and Swansea Council's Environment Department to intervene."
