Welsh Assembly Member congratulates Visteon pensioners

The Welsh Liberal Assembly Member for South Wales West, Peter Black has welcomed news that Ford has concluded an agreement with the Unite union to make a settlement offer to eligible ex-Visteon employees who filed legal claims in connection with reductions in their pensions resulting from Visteon UK being put into administration in 2009.

The settlement, needs to be voted on by Visteon pensioners, but if they approve it then it will mean that both sides will be able to avoid further legal proceedings.

"Although I have worked with a number of Visteon pensioners on this issue, the credit for this offer lies with the campaigners tenacity in forcing Ford into accepting their responsibilities," said Mr. Black. "It is of course up to the pensioners themselves whether to accept the offer or not but the progress this represents in very welcome."
