The Welsh Liberal Democrats Assembly Member for South Wales West, Peter Black has praised the work of the fire and rescue services after new statistics have shown improvements in fire safety across Wales.
Key to that improvement has been the prevention work carried out by fire and rescue personnel with vulnerable households. In 2012-13, Welsh Fire and Rescue Services completed over 5,200 fire safety audits.
"It is great to see that there have been a reduction in the number of emergency fire calls in Wales," said Mr. Black.. "It is good to know that we are all living safer lives in safer homes.
"I am pleased to see that the number of malicious fire alarm calls have reduced significantly and that less deliberate fires were started in Wales. I hope this trend will continue as we continue to educate the children of Wales about respecting fire and the Fire and Rescue Service."
